About NEET-UG: A Comprehensive Overview for Aspiring Medical Students

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) stands as a pivotal examination for aspirants seeking admission to undergraduate medical and dental programs across India. Governed by the National Testing Agency (NTA), NEET-UG serves as a standardized assessment, ensuring fair and transparent selection processes for medical and dental colleges nationwide.

Purpose and Significance: NEET-UG serves as the singular entrance examination for admission to MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery), BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), and related programs in medical and dental colleges approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India (DCI), respectively. Its primary objective lies in streamlining the admission process, promoting merit-based selections, and maintaining the integrity of medical education in India.

Examination Format: NEET-UG is conducted annually in a pen-and-paper-based format, evaluating candidates on three major subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). The exam comprises multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with a total of 180 questions, 45 each from Physics and Chemistry, and 90 from Biology. Each correct answer earns four marks, with one mark deducted for each incorrect response, ensuring accuracy and precision in candidate evaluations.
